Modelling

Aishwarya Rai, Diana Hayden, Nafisa Joseph, Lara Dutta, Milind Somen and you!!!

Wow! wouldn't it be nice if you find your name being counted with the names of these models (that's what they all are). Hey! do you feel that we are telling you fairy tales ? No, we are not, but of course if you want to be a part of this list of celebrities you need to be a Model for which you need to have certain attributes, some of which can be developed while others are God's Gift !
Modelling is a profession where educational qualifications become insignificant (Ah! What a relief ! ) and physical attributes and personal qualities assume importance. To be a model you need not have facial beauty but you must have a clear skin, good and healthy complexion and lustrous hair.

If you are a girl then your height should exceed 5 feet 6 inches (remember the height of Ash and Sush!) and if you are a guy then your height should be at least 6 feet (Milind Somen !) You also need to have some acting talent (to become an actor /actress later!), a flair for fashion trends and immense self confidence. You must also possess a lot of stamina and a tough mind.

Although no formal training
for this career is as yet available
a small beginning has been
made by some ex- models
who have set up training schools.
These are, however restricted
to Delhi and Mumbai only .

The fashion and advertising industries in India are booming and naturally models have innumerable opportunities to establish themselves. If you are successful then you may be able to earn upto Rs.25000 per show and don't forget that you would also be in great demand to compere live shows and anchor TV shows. It is a glamorous profession, as you are always in the limelight. Good money, fame, glamour, travel, hob-nobbing with the rich and the famous, clothes, jewellery ... all are part of the package (tempting, ain't it?

But hold your horses , beware of the dark side. Glamour and fame have their ugly side too. You lose all your privacy for one thing. Life is tough with one shoot after the other. There is intense competition and you have to always be on the edge. Forget about inhibitions you have to perform before huge crowds You have to always look your best, no compromises - and the shelf life of a model is very small. So, be prepared to have your fifteen minutes of fame and then be forgotten.

Scared? If this scares you then stop right here. And if not, then go ahead, there is a whole world of glamour waiting for you.

See you on the RAMP soon.....
