Homoeopathy
is certainly in (for all those who didn’t already know it!).
It claims to be absolutely different from Allopathic or
Ayurvedic systems of medicine (and that it is!). The Central
Council of Homoeopathy has been set up - so Homoeopathy
can enjoy equal status as that of allopathy.
What exactly makes
homoeopathy so different?
Its practitioners
base their diagnosis only after tracing the complete history
of the disease as well as the patient’s temperament and
personality. You think this is good?? There’s more!! The
investigation and treatment does not involve any invasive
methods and the medication is given in minute quantities. Now
wait till you hear this - not only does the treatment root out
the genesis of the illness, it also gives importance to
increasing the body’s immune system (heard of anything
better than this??)
 If
you wish to learn and practice this form of medicine - you are
in for a tough time! Not only should you possess a good mental
ability, your aptitude to think logically should be heightened
too. Besides all this, you will be required to trace a
patient’s history of illness through record details (a very
important part of your work!). Above all, if you have a calm
and patient attitude, coupled with a warm personality -
there’s nothing like it!!
You are eligible to
apply for the Homeopathy course only if you have passed your 10+2
with science (PCB) subjects. The 2 courses
available are - DHMS (4 years), and the graduate degree course
BHMS (5 years). A year’s internship coupled with a
dissertation comes along with the 5-year degree course. It is
your merit alone that can get you an admission to the BHMS
course. Many states hold a joint entrance exam too, along with
the MBBS and BDS selection.
Interested, but scared
of the cut off percentage?? You’d better be ‘coz it is a
high 80%, based on your Class XII average in Physics,
Chemistry and Biology (get on with those books, right now!).
Get the required
percentage, complete the course and you’re ready to be
employed!!
Your services will be
needed in Government Medical Services, i.e. CGHS, State
dispensaries, autonomous bodies, voluntary organisations or
private practice and teaching.

not enough institutes providing this course - you are wrong!!
Lots of colleges have
made homoeopathy courses available. This is because it is a
popular form of medicine and is well known and widely accepted
all over the world, especially India, where people swear by
its healing properties.
