Did you ever stop to think who were the people behind the
all important 'electricity, which most of us can't do without.
You don't need to make a very wild guess. Yes! It’s the
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS. With the ever expanding power industry,
the electrical engineer has a very bright future. Although the
money in the line may not be extravagant but, it is enough to
have a more than luxurious life. (especially when you get
starting salaries ranging between 2lakh to 3.5 lakh per annum)
The placements of Electrical Engineers in DCE is excellent
with 15%of the IIIrd year students (yes, IIIrd yr.) students
already placed when in several other colleges placements start
only in the IVth year. As far as the preference of stream
goes, one should usually have the order of CE, ECE, EE
,ME...(EE and ME being interchangeable depending upon personal
interest.)
An advantage that EE students have over ECE or CE students,
is that they have a wider field of options after passing out
of college because EE students can very easily migrate to ECE
or CE lines but the reverse is not possible.
Another option to EE students is of course higher studies
(MS) by taking the GRE (Graduate Records Examination) and
going abroad to study. Some students from DCE, NSIT have
scores like 2370, 2340, 2320, 2310, 2300…etc. on a scale of
2400 in the GRE. These students are going abroad without
spending a penny from their pockets by getting scholarships
from the colleges they are joining.
So Electrical is definitely a most happening branch. Come
join the joy-ride!!
