The padded swellings on the Palm are known as the Mounts; they should be well rounded and firm, neither flat nor puffy. For most of us some of them are over-developed or under-developed, revealing excess or a lack of the relevant Quality.

The Mount of Venus is the well-padded part of the Palm at the base of the Thumb. This shows love and devotion;
The Mount of the Moon, which lies opposite, on the percussive edge of the Palm, shows imagination and creativity.
The Mount of Jupiter, at the base of the Index Finger, signifies power, good fortune and leadership.
The Mount of Saturn, below the Middle Finger, shows a prudent, thoughtful, well-balanced person.
The Mount of Apollo, below the Ring Finger, signifies aesthetic appreciation, and a pleasing personality.
The Mount of Mercury, below the Little Finger, shows liveliness, wit and verbal dexterity.
Across the middle of the Palm, on the Thumb side, the Mount of Mars Active denotes strength and great physical courage.
Opposite, on the percussive side, the Mount of Mars Passive denotes quiet courage, and moral virtue.
In the hollow of the Palm the Plain of Mars, if it is Well Developed, shows capability and practicality.
