Each
finger represents the characteristics of one of the ancient
Greek Gods with which we are all familiar. Examine its length
in comparison to the other Fingers, and study most carefully
the proportionate length of each phalanx or Joint of the
Finger.
The first phalanx (that which contains the Finger nail)
denotes mental characteristics and intuition, the middle
practical, financial and business, while the third indicates
the material and earthy qualities of the Sensations, such as
ought not to be revealed if they might cause embarrassment to
any there present. The length of each phalanx and each Finger
overall shows the strength of each Quality represented
therein.
The Index Finger, called Jupiter after the King of the Gods,
shows strength of character, the man who is a born leader of
men.
The Middle Finger, called Saturn shows a serious, deep
thinking person, such as would do well in the Sciences.
The Ring Finger, called Apollo after the Greek Sun God, shows
the degree to which one is emotionally stable, it also reveals
talents in the Arts.
The Little Finger, called mercury after the Messenger of the
Gods, shows a powerful intellect and a skill with words.
The Thumb, standing out on its own, is the strongest of all
the digits, and may sometimes remedy such faults or
deficiencies as might be revealed by the other Fingers. The
first phalanx represents will-power, and the second the
reasoning powers, there is no third, except the Mount of
Venus, which shows as we have seen such qualities as are not
seemly to be possessed in excess, though in moderation this
Mount displays those virtues to be desired in a Devoted Wife
and Mother.
